Kenny Wheeler & Heyoke

The sun rises on the first Post-Halloween day where I’m at, but back where night still reigns, so does Nightskyradio, unleashing the thrilling (and I do mean thrilling) Grand Finale of the Rocktober Halloween Countdown!!!

But speaking of night, we’ve had a pretty major influx of Kyary fans ever since I posted “Mottai Night Land” last week. I hope I don’t drive them all away by dipping back into 70s jazz. This is “Heyoke,” from Gnu High (1975).

Kenny Wheeler (flugelhorn), Keith Jarrett (piano), Dave Holland (bass), Jack DeJohnette (drums). What a lineup! I had this on vinyl once, and I’ll get it again if I see it around.

UPDATE:Youtube took down “Heyoke” because of copyright issues. For consolation, here’s a nice taste of Kenny Wheeler that might stay up, playing the song “Smatter” with one of my favorite guitarists (John Abercrombie) and one of my favorite drummers (Peter Erskine). The music doesn’t start until 0:57 and before it does there’s a lot extraneous noise. But the music is all clear.

NOTHER UPDATE: Heyoke back up, full length version, but for how long I don’t know.

Hey, Liz! I know it’s none of my business, but how did you get a “t” in the middle of that string of “o”s. I mean, I’m staring down at the keyboard now and saying to myself, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutuuuuuuum, how is that even possible?
