Kyary Pamyu Pamyu & Family Party

This new Kyary song is also the ending theme for the new Crayon Shin Chan movie. You have to transfer over to Youtube to watch the video.

I can’t rank this song among my Kyary favorites, BUT it shows that she’s still got her head screwed on right (meaning, freakily askew) and is holding strong on the Kyaryan vision. I love the video. Special points for thematic use of cardboard, which for some reason is the strongest imaginative element here. Now, if only “Invader Invader” had had a video as good as this, I never would have gone through my dark period of Kyaryan doubt. As for the music, well, OK. You can’t really criticize it for sounding like computer game music, because it’s s’pozed to be computer game music.

We defer once more to Superhappyawesome to give us the translation of the lyrics, along with some good commentary. And we would be remiss not to include the Crayon Shin Chan dance cover version:

  1. Cheers for the link! I agree that this song isn’t really my favorite, but the video is aces!

always love to hear more of Kyary and also your take on it. She’s so different from anything here in the U.S.

Off-topic: watching Top Secret right now. Was vetting it for my 11-year-old daughter as there’s some German in it and she studies that language in school. But the prison scene where he gave his manager a tool to help his marriage convinced me that she’s not ready for this movie. But I’m loving it–cracks me up. So simple and fun compared to the convoluted, complicated films they put out now.

      Hey there, Liz1

Been away from computers, but good to see your smiling avatar!

Yeah, that one scene in TS does kind register ultra high on the vulgarity meter. Makes you wonder if it really had to be in there? The concert sequences have always been my favorite.

the movie was PG! Thinking that was before PG 13 rating? All in good fun–I enjoyed how it spoofed Blue Lagoon.
