Sunday Offering Prayers for Dave

Dave, the leading light behind The Blog of Funny Names is an extraordinary person by any objective reckoning, and I feel very lucky to know him through my association with BoFN, into which he kindly invited me a few years ago. (Sad to say, I’ve become a rare and sporadic contributor, but I am still a regular there in the comments.)

Dave is going to med school and fighting cancer at the same time, and many of our hearts go out for him.

I’m not much for contemporary Christian music but I have a soft spot for the rendition of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy below. I present it with my best prayer intentions for Dave. The entire Chaplet can be heard here.

UPDATE: BoFN carrier of the flame Fannie has alerted me to a great news story on Dave by NBC’s San Diego newsroom.

Dave’s sister Vanessa has set up a GoFundMe page here.

Sunday Music & Angelus & Franz Biebl

The Angelus Prayer (traditionally prayed at 6 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm) modified somewhat and set to music by Franz Biebl. The performers are unknown.

The angel of God visited Maria and she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, Full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus, Jesus.

Maria said: See the servant of the Lord. May it happen to me according to your word.

Hail Mary, Full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus, Jesus.

And the Word became flesh and lived among us.

Hail Mary, Full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, Holy Mary, pray for us now and in the hour of our death. Amen. Amen. Amen.
